A formal occasion, a small dinner, a dress code somewhere on a trip.

"Summer Ivy Jacket" is what to reach for then, holding coolness and refinement together.

The cloth is a fine striped oxford from "SIDOGRAS", the long-established Spanish mill.

Woven a little finer than ordinary oxford, it has a soft hand and a supple fall.

Saturated reds, sax and yellow, colors that call up Ivy style, run through it: fresh, with something playful in it, and open in the way summer asks for.

A cloth whose colors come up light under strong summer sun.

The 3-button front that rolls to the middle gives natural shape and a classic mood.

Patch pockets at the chest and hips add a casual note, with flaps on the hip pockets for practicality.

The cuffs take 2 decorative buttons, without working buttonholes, which keeps things easy and unforced.

A box silhouette with no front darts, combined with a hook vent, makes for freedom of movement, coolness, and the relaxed feel daily wear wants.

A tailored jacket, and yet with something of the sporting air of a coverall or a drizzler.

The rule is that nothing goes in the pockets of a tailored jacket, but "Summer Ivy Jacket" crosses that border: a wallet, a cap, a handkerchief are all allowed. It has a side to it that is simply a useful tool for getting through summer.

Inside, the body seams are bag-finished and the lining left out for lightness.

The sleeves take a dry-touch polyester lining, so it stays comfortable through the sweating months.

Durability and a sense of quality together are why it will stay a lead piece in the wardrobe for years.

Carefully sewn at a specialist tailored factory in Japan, then given a single wash for a casual air.
