Brooklyn, New York: a place once full of shipyards and warehouse districts, bound up with work culture, and later a place where new creative industries grew.
"Brooklyn", a denim suit carrying values that answer to that, is now released.

The contrast between the city's history and its present resonates with what this denim suit is: a classic cloth fused with advanced tailoring.
Rugged and trad, two values with a natural affinity, are mixed here in the D.C.WHITE way.

Contrast and affinity, many contexts converging in one garment, and a face that has not existed before.

The cloth is an 11.2 oz denim made in Japan.
The yarn is on the thick side, with real firmness and body.

Long-fibred and steady, it is about as well suited to denim as a yarn can be. Dyed in pure indigo, it fades toward a vivid blue the more it is worn.
The weaving is done on old Ishikawa Seisakusho shuttle looms, the 888 series, first built in the 1970s.
Only 4 of these rare looms are still running in Japan; weaving slowly and at low tension gives a cloth with the rich surface particular to vintage denim.
From loomstate, the only treatment is sanforizing, finished without water and with the sizing left in.
A single wash at the garment stage then holds shrinkage after purchase to around 1 cm in length.

Light and yet densely woven, the cloth resists stretching even at the knee and elbow, where movement is greatest, and carries the durability for years of wear.

The rich character the single wash creates deepens with wear, settles onto the body, and the blunt fading grows into itself.

This season's theme is the American trad style that crossed to postwar Japan and evolved on its own. The aging of denim, so deeply loved through that history, is part of what Brooklyn carries.

The jacket uses D.C.WHITE tailoring technique so that the shoulder and sleeve lines state their refinement naturally and with composure.

To make the character of denim work as a suit, the making was entrusted to a factory we have trusted for years.

The trousers fall straight in a slightly wide cut, close in feel to French army M-47 trousers.
The silhouette is blunt and masculine in the way men's trousers should be, and yet nothing important to the lower half of a suit is left out: open side seams, and darts that hold structure through the seat.

So while the set was pursued as a whole, each half was drawn to stand on its own as well.
The jacket over a T-shirt and sneakers reads with street lightness; tied up, with loafers, it turns urban and refined.
The trousers alone go with a blouson or a knit, carrying toughness out of workwear while choosing no particular style.

Well-proportioned, with the lightness only denim has, it covers casual business days, a walk through town at the weekend, and an hour in a restaurant.

A piece that lets you wear an unforced urban ease, like the people walking briskly through the back streets of Brooklyn.

From the generation that loved American trad in the 90s to a younger one that loves vintage, a denim suit that stays close to everyday dressing and gains depth and character the more it is worn.
