The collar stand is set a little low and the collar itself kept small, so that with the top button open the V-zone falls into natural room and shape, and the whole reads unhurried.

The compact wide spread collar opens the neck a measured amount while keeping a minimal, urban impression, which suits a resort setting and a city one alike.

Named after Newport, the harbor town in Rhode Island, the model carries a lightness like sea air and looks right even straight out of the wash.

For all that relaxed mood, nothing is conceded in the sewing.

The tailoring skill D.C.WHITE has built over years is fully present here, in felled side seams and in the labor of shank-wrapped buttons: honest work carried into the parts no one sees.

The cloth is a fine-count 100% cotton chambray.

A natural nep in the yarn gives the surface an uneven richness, and with it depth and warmth.

It breathes well, and sits easily through spring into summer.

The color, an indigo-like settled tone, brings cleanness and depth to casual dressing.

For dressing down on a day off, or as the one shirt taken on a trip.

Unforced, and still refined.
