Here the sleeve balance of the earlier model, "Balmachan Coat", was reconsidered and adjusted toward something easier to wear.

The 1-piece sleeve has been climbing in the vintage market lately, but "Next Vintage" deliberately takes a 2-piece sleeve.

The pattern tapers very slightly toward the cuff, so that from a distance the impression stays well-proportioned.

The raglan sleeve gives the shoulder a measured range of movement while falling along it into a calm line at the cuff.

The cloth is a yarn-dyed 70s two-ply gabardine, woven at a Japanese cotton mill founded in 1893.

It has the water repellency, wind resistance and water resistance gabardine should have, and dyeing with vat dyes means sweat and water do little to the color, so it holds its state for a long time.

The firmness and faint sheen particular to cotton gabardine are part of it too, and with wear a deeper creasing joins them and the surface gains character.

The sewing was raised in precision as well, on the assumption of long wear.

A fine 30s thread, seldom used on a coat, and a dense 12 stitches to 3 cm, hold a fine appearance and real durability together.

Made up 1 by 1 at a partner factory in Hokuriku, this coat gives up its essence to anyone who looks closely.

The body lining is an original Madras check in 100% cotton.

The sleeve lining is 52% polyester, 48% rayon, so the arm slides through easily.

The buttons are stamped buffalo horn.
