The Professor Shirt series holds the intellectual, noble air of the American East Coast.

The silhouette and specification that run through the series are unchanged; here they carry a linen made in Japan.

The cloth is a 40s single-ply linen.

The fine texture that comes of a high count, and the natural rise and fall of a single-ply surface, speak for authentic linen.

By nature the fibre is durable, breathable and absorbent, and with wear and washing it loosens into a soft, worn-in hand: part of the appeal is the way it ages.

The design and the sewing follow the original Professor Shirt.

An interlined open collar that reads like a lapel, 4 mm flat-felled seams, shank-wrapped buttons, side pleats at the back for shape: placing the aesthetics we care about as tailors throughout the shirt lifts the open collar, usually read as casual, into something that crosses over to dress.

Japanese cloth, sewn 1 by 1 by craftsmen at a shirt factory in Japan. Even so, the intermediate costs were looked at again to hold the price within reach of as many people as possible.
