I have worn shorts since I was young, Gramicci, Patagonia Baggies and the rest, and this is the pair I would reach for now. Gurkha shorts are good too, but if that reads as trying a little too hard, this is the right amount of effort.

Size 48 fits me exactly, with the hem sitting just above the knee. Shorts are a casual thing, but the real West Point twill gives this pair refinement as well. I would wear it with the center crease left in. It sits well under a loose top, so a hoodie, a relaxed shirt or a double-breasted cotton jacket will pull the whole line together.
