The aim was the finest shirt jacket there is.

Elegant daily wear as we understand it, working as we do in tailored clothes.

The cloth is a melton spun from 20.5 micron wool yarn (1 micron = 1 millionth of a metre, 100 microns to a tenth of a millimetre).

Its appeal is a drape that seems to melt and a touch that clings smoothly to the hand.

Two layers of that cloth are then joined by hand, with a craftsman passing binding thread through, into a double-face construction.

Rather than the usual bonding, where heat and pressure fuse the layers, this slower and more laborious method keeps the natural gloss and soft fall of the cloth intact while holding durability and a shaped silhouette together.

The hem is finished by hand as well, with a river finish.

Turning the two cloths inward as they are sewn together evens the weight of face and back, so the fabric is unlikely to roll to one side.

The silhouette gives ease to a gentle shoulder line, while a wide armhole and a slightly forward-pitched sleeve are drawn to follow the natural structure of the body.

What catches the light on that softly lustrous cloth is buffalo horn buttons.

The color range is navy alone, the D.C.WHITE signature color.

Cloth, make, trims.

Confidence in all three is what allows ornament to be dropped for a noble line.
